7 Unexpected Household Products That Will Up Your Beauty Game

We've all had that dreadful realization that one of our favorite cleansers or zit creams has run out. And as much as I hate to admit it, I've also been the victim of a splotchy self-tan.

But luckily these are no longer issues because I've got seven unexpected household items that save the day. As a beauty blogger for more than 10 years, I can personally attest that I've tried pretty much everything when it comes to these situations. The following hacks are all me-approved, so scroll below to save some money (and angst!).

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

You can use this refrigerator staple as toner because it's a great purifying product and especially good for anyone who is acne-prone.

2. Cinnamon

Speaking of breakouts, if you mix a little cinnamon with some honey you've got yourself a pretty awesome spot-treatment. Cinnamon is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial so it works well to fight those unwanted bumps.

3. Coffee filters

Why spend money on fancy oil-blotting sheets when you can use a coffee filter? They work just as well as any version from any beauty brand out there.

4. Olive oil

Run out of makeup brush cleaner? Apply a few drops of olive oil to a paper towel, dab your brush into the liquid until the makeup rubs off onto the paper towel and you've got clean brushes.

5. Toothbrush

Top hair stylists have used toothbrushes for years as a quick and easy way to tame hair flyaways. Simply spritz a little hair spray on a toothbrush and brush your hair as desired.

6. Dryer sheets

Another easy way to tame flyaways–but this time from static–is to use a dryer sheet. It will instantly remove static from your hair, the same way it does for your laundry.

7. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

If you're like me then you usually end up with at least one streaky body part after you use self-tanner. One of these "magic" erasers will help. Just dampen the sponge with water and lightly scrub at the area in question and you'll be streak-free in no time.
