The Best New Music Releases of the Week From Top-Notch Unknown Artists
A slew of artists brought their A-game to the table in time for New Music Friday.
HAIM's new album is flawless. Kesha's comeback single left us an emotional wreck. And Liam Payne's collaboration with Zedd is a strong contender for Song of the Summer.
While we could sing the praises of these artists for days on end, we thought we'd highlight some equally-stellar musicians who don't get enough time in the spotlight.
Scroll below to check out five solid tracks from artists you've probably never heard of, but will soon hold dear to your hearts.
1. "Bear Claws" by The Academic
Irish alt-rockers The Academic have only released a handful of songs to date, but if their latest single "Bear Claws" is any indication of what's to come, they're about to be a household name real soon. A fun tune full of relatable lyrics and foot-tapping instrumentals, you won't be able to get its catchy melody out of your head.
2. "Second Chance" by Lucy Rose
With a voice sweeter than honey and smoother than butter, folk rocker Lucy Rose's "Second Chance" is the epitome of music to your ears. It's definitely a song to add to your pick-me-up playlist immediately.
3. "Clearly" by Dylan Hyde
As the title would imply, we're clearly fans of Dylan Hyde's up-tempo love song. The way Dylan lays it all out there just makes this track all the more dreamy. If a guy wrote a song about like this for us, we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves.
4. "What Am I Here For" by Jade Bird
Alternative artist Jade Bird has a voice so pure, listening to her music will leave you experiencing the entire range of human emotions. Her vulnerability in her lyrics is something to admire, especially in her emotional song "What Am I Here For" off her Something American EP. Prepare for the chills.
5. "Feels Like Falling in Love" by The XCERTS
If you're a fan of 5 Seconds of Summer, allow us to introduce you to your new fave band—Scottish rockers The XCERTS. Their latest single is quick and exciting, taking you on a ride of highs and lows through intricate instrumentals. The technicolor daydream visuals in their music video has us feeling the tune even more.
