We Finally Tried the Vegan Version of Our Fave Japanese Dessert and OMG
When we go out for sushi, of course we're all about the Philadelphia Roll, Rainbow Roll and sea salt-sprinkled edamame—but when it comes down to it, we really just came for our fave creamy dessert: mochi ice cream.
There's close to nothing that compares to the mochi ice cream we get at the end of our meal. I mean, this sweet treat really put green tea on the map, when it comes to flavor.
But sadly, not everyone can indulge in this delight, as it's traditionally made with dairy—that is… until recently.
The brand My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream is known for its unique variety of mochi ball flavors, and earlier this year, they launched four vegan versions! We were offered a sample box of the Salted Caramel flavor, and its cashew cream tastes exactly like the real deal. It seriously melts in your mouth.
The additional vegan flavors offered are Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla. And for the traditional mochi-muncher, there are dairy bites in Vanilla Bean, Mint Chocolate Chip, Sweet Mango, Ripe Strawberry, Cookies & Cream, Double Chocolate and, of course, classic Green Tea.
A box retails for $5.99 – $6.99 and can be found at various Vons, Ralphs, Safeway, Wegmans, Publix and Kroger grocery stores.
