Everything We Know (So Far) About Disney Channel’s Descendants 3
You didn't think Descendants 2 was the end of the story, did you?
Of course you didn't, because you're one smart cookie and a dedicated fan. If you're anything like us, you've been freaking out since Descendants 3 was announced earlier this year.
We can't wait for the third installment of this franchise to hit Disney Channel. From the new cast additions to the secretive plot, this DCOM is all sorts of promising.
Wondering just what you can expect from Descendants 3? Scroll below to see everything we know about it, so far.
The Cast
Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce and Booboo Stewart are back as Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay, but they're not the only stars returning for the threequel. Mitchell Hope will reprise his role of Ben; China Anne McClain will stir up some trouble as Uma; Sarah Jeffery will be the ultimate royal as Audrey; and Dove's boyfriend, Thomas Doherty, will play with our hearts as Harry.
There are also a handful of new faces joining the tight-knit cast this time around, and we couldn't be more stoked.
Cheyenne Jackson has signed on to play the Hercules villain Hades, which we have a feeling will be a much bigger deal than it sounds. Hades will also be joined by another interesting villain—Dr. Facilier, who will be played by Jamal Sims. We'll also meet his daughter, Celia, who'll be played by Jadah Marie. And rounding out the list of new descendants, Smee's sons Squeaky and Squirmy will be played by Christian Convrey and Luke Roessler. Quite the interesting bunch of characters, if you ask us.
The Crew
While we're stoked about a large majority of the original cast returning and all the new faces we'll be introduced to, nothing has us counting down the days of the release more than knowing Kenny Ortega is back to direct. He's done some pretty incredible things with the past two movies, so we know he has something larger-than-life in store for the third one—both plot and music wise.
The Plot
From the teaser trailer released in February, it appears most of the movie will center around Mal's relationship with her father. It hasn't been confirmed who her real father is, but we're pretty convinced it's this character. Though with the casting of Cheyenne Jackson as Hades, we're wondering if he could potentially be Mal's dad. Guess we'll just have to wait to find out all that's in store as more is announced in the months to come.
The Release Date
Production is currently underway for the third installment, which means we won't get to see this film until 2019. There's no word yet on the exact release date, but we're guessing it'll be sometime in July. Considering the first and second movies premiered in July, it only makes sense. So mark your calendars now, because this is a DCOM you won't want to miss out on.
