Here’s Your Winter Holiday-Themed Pokémon, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

We don't know, but we plan to spend this winter break diving back into all of our favorite Pokémon games we've been sadly neglecting this year—and we might just start building out a themed team or two.

With the holiday season in full swing, we've been thinking about all of the Pokémon with festive themes, and how fun it might be to take down the Elite Four with a  wintery twist. Aries (March 21 – April 19): Mega Sceptile

Aries is one of the most active and ambitious signs of the zodiac, so it would make sense they'd get paired with a powerful Mega Evolution like Mega Sceptile. Sceptiles work hard to keep the forests healthy by raising the trees of the forest, and their tails even look like Christmas trees decorated with a pointed topper.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Wyrdeer

Taurus is a sign often associated with protection and protection, making them a fit with noble Wyrdeer. This reindeer-like Pokémon can create invisible barriers to keep its loved ones safe from danger, and it also has a thick winter coat to keep out the cold, which can be utilized in cold weather clothing.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Eiscue

Playful Gemini is also a sign of duality, represented by twins, making the penguin-like Eiscue a good match. There truly are two sides to every Eiscue.  It wears a protective block of ice on its heat-sensitive head, but it can break when damaged, revealing its worried expression beneath.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Delibird

Cancer is often considered the homemaker and giver of the zodiac, sharing much in common with the Santa Claus-themed Delibird. This unusual Pokémon has a hollow tail, which it uses to store items, whether food or gifts, and its selflessness has been known to save lives in otherwise dangerous situations.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22): Staryu

Leo is the only sign of the zodiac whose ruling "planet" is actually a star—the sun. They like to be the star of every show, so of course, Staryu is their festive Pokémon of choice. Even in the dark of night in the depths of the sea, this Pokémon is known to light its central core to create a twinkling show for all to see.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22): Frosmoth

Virgos can be perfectionists known for their dedication and attention to detail, making Frosmoth their ideal Pokémon partner. It's beloved for its elegant look and only evolves with high happiness, leveling up at night, so you have to know what you're doing to acquire one. They're also highly protective of their icy mountain ranges, pairing well with the earth sign's love for the planet.

Libra (Sep. 23 – Oct. 22): Jirachi

Libras are known for their love of peace and wanting to bring others joy, sharing much in common with the wish-granting Pokémon Jirachi. It's based on the idea of wishing upon a star, and though the festival it's inspired by, Tanabata, technically happens in the summer, we still find its cheerful celebrations super festive.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): Glaceon

Scorpio is one of the most misunderstood signs of the zodiac, known for their loyalty as well as intensity. Likewise, the ice Eeveelution Glaceon has an alluring appeal, shrouded in a bit of mystery and edge. It makes for a faithful companion, but you don't want to get on its bad side.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21): Cryogonal

Sagittarius is the adventurer of the zodiac, known for their love of travel, exploration and taking risks. The snowflake-shaped Pokémon Cryogonal is said to hold the spirits of both people and Pokémon who lost their lives scaling treacherous snowy mountains, so it's quite possible some Cryogonal literally were Sagittarius people at one point.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19): Abomasnow

Hard-working and traditional Capricorns will find a good match with Abomasnow, a Pokémon partially based on one of the all-time classic cryptic, the yeti. Combining its snowy and plant powers, it can easily accomplish mighty physical feats, preferring to live on quietly on its own to do what it pleases.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): Castform (Snow)

If there's one sign of the zodiac that's tough to exactly pin down, it's Aquarius. Their independence can make them a bit unpredictable, much like Castform, a Pokémon that changes shape with the weather. Of course, the Snow form of Castform is just the thing for the winter season, taking on a cute, snowy appearance and spreading joy as the temperatures dip.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20): Alolan Vulpix

Dreamy and creative Pisces will probably be drawn to the fluffy white coat of Alolan Vulpix before discovering they're kindred spirits in more ways than one. While most Vulpix are fire-type Pokémon, the ones that live in the mountainous regions of Alola are adapted to the snow as ice-type Pokémon, banding together in groups for warmth and kinship.
