If You Can’t Get Enough of Watermelon, You HAVE to Try Wonder Melon Cold-Pressed Juices
I'm a long-time fan of watermelon juice, and will always choose it over the sliced stuff when I get the chance. Unfortunately, it hasn't yet become the widespread and beloved beverage it deserves to be.
That's what got me so excited about Wonder Melon and their new cold-pressed watermelon juices. So when the folks behind the company sent me both of their flavors to try for myself, I was delighted to put them to the test.
The Products
Wonder Melon crafts fully organic cold-pressed watermelon juices in two flavors: Watermelon Lemon Cayenne and Watermelon Cucumber Basil. They're made with only the most simple ingredients, with no added sugars or colors, and they're hydrating enough to either drink straight or mix into your favorite mocktails. Plus, they mean you can enjoy the delicious flavor of watermelon all year round. Wonder Melon comes in 8.45 fl. oz. bottles, with the lemon cayenne flavor containing 100 calories, and the cucumber basil flavor at just 80 calories. Each bottle sells for $3.99, and they can be found in certain grocers, as well as an Amazon.
The Experience
Watermelon Lemon Cayenne
I began with the Watermelon Lemon Cayenne flavor, which turned out to be just as fiery as I'd hoped. While the primary flavor was sweet, nourishing watermelon, it was accented with a little tartness from the lemon, followed by a subtly spicy bite as it went down. During a few sips, it even burnt my throat a little bit. Still, I found that the incredible flavor was absolutely worth the heat—though if you don't like spice, I'd advise you stay away. And seeing as the only ingredients are watermelon juice, lemon juice, apple juice and cayenne, I knew I was drinking something truly good.
Watermelon Cucumber Basil
I adore anything flavored with basil, so I was especially excited to try this unique flavor—and it didn't disappoint. This time around, the watermelon flavor was a bit subtler because of the cooling addition of cucumber, and every sip was tinged with the herby, peppery taste of bright fresh basil. The only ingredients are watermelon juice, lemon juice, apple juice, cucumber juice and basil, so it was all too easy to gulp this flavor down without any guilt.
Bottom Line
Wonder Melon's drinks are absolutely delicious, and I'd likely pick some up every week at the grocery store, if only it were more widely available. At $3.99 per bottle, they're a little splurge without totally breaking the bank, and they're not packed with calories, either. The Wonder Melon website has a store locator, so you can find out if these beverages are sold near you. Clearly I hope they start stocking them near me sometime very soon.
