The Brand
Woof Wicks is all about creating your dream candle inspired by the pets or people that you love most. Unlike many other candle companies, they avoid all oils and other ingredients that aren't good for pets and use cruelty-free, ethically sourced ingredients with zero phthalates, parabens or sulfates. In addition to candles, the brand offers things like tote bags, sweaters and custom charms, and while you're free to buy whatever you like from their shop, it's their custom candles, assigned via quiz, that make the brand stand out from the crowd. You just have to take a quiz and answer some quick and fun questions in order to design your personalized candle and make it precisely the right fit for your home.

The Process
Creating my Woof Wicks candle only took a few minutes. It started with a super fast "Find Your Fragrance" quiz designed to match me with my dream scent. The first question was about which image inspired me most, showing me pictures of things like orange groves, a tropical paradise and the woods. Then it asked about my sensitivity to fragrance before pairing me with two different scents inspired by "A cozy fire in the woods." Cozy Woods was a candle with notes of ginger and sandalwood, but I chose the Walk in the Woods candle instead.
I then shared where I wanted to light my candle, to match me with the right size, plus details on who my candle is inspired by. You can pick a dog, a cat or a person, and for this candle, I picked my littlest boy pup, Magnus, the Boston terrier. From there, I named the candle "Magnus's Woodsy Walk" and wrote up a little description to be printed on the candle. I was also given the option to add a free Polaroid, submit an image and choose the text for it, as well as get a hand-stamped custom charm (usually $2) with the candle, and I opted for both.
I was given a basic preview of my candle (pre-custom text) and then sizing options. While my Woof Wicks order was provided courtesy of the brand, the 5 oz. version of my candle was selling for $28, while the 12 oz. version sold for $42. The larger option was out of stock when I placed my order, so I went with the smaller one.

There were also two shipping options. The expedited shipping (normally $8.50) would get me my candle in eight to 11 days, while the free shipping estimate was within 12 to 17 days. After placing my order on May 4, I received my package on May 13, and I couldn't have been happier about its contents.

The Experience
I was super excited to open my box from Woof Wicks—especially given all of the cuteness that came along with it. In addition to the miniature, hand-lettered Polaroid I'd requested with my order and the sweet hand-pressed charm, the founder also included a little matchbox featuring a Boston terrier who looks so much like Magnus! She told me that the brand rotates vintage-inspired matchboxes, inspired by her late father, who used to collect vintage matchbooks, and the timing couldn't have been more perfect.
Of course, the star of the show was the candle itself, which came with a wooden lid and was housed in a branded drawstring bag. Even before I lit the candle, I knew that the bold scents of pine and musk were right up my alley. I've always been a fan of Christmas tree scents, and when I set the wooden wick alight for the first time, I knew I had a winner on my hands.
The candle's scent lingered and had a great cast without being overwhelming, and it really did smell like my favorite woodsy trees. It also had a wooden wick, which crackled like a bonfire as it burned and really sold the illusion of a forested campout. The candle also burned for a little over 30 hours in total, so I was able to get plenty of enjoyment out of it. Overall, I adored the full experience and would definitely shop again—especially when it comes to gifting for another pet devotee.
