Rookie K-Pop Group YOUNITE Dish on Their Debut EP, YOUNI-BIRTH

Is there anything more exciting than the debut of an incredible new rookie K-pop group?

YOUNITE is the latest group to win our hearts, dropping their debut track "EVERYBODY" featuring DJ Juice on March 30, before releasing their the track "1 of 9" as well as their first  EP, YOUNI-BIRTH, on Wednesday, April 20—and it'll only take one listen for you to fall in love, too. The nine-member group's first six tracks are bursting with energy, hip-hop beats and the smoothest vocals around, and we got the chance to interview the group to discuss their debut, and their hopes for the future—and have even included their original responses in Korean below the English translation!

Sweety High: What does the group name YOUNITE mean?

EUNSANG: YOUNITE is a compound word of YOU and UNITE, and the name represents our promise that we will always be together as one with fans.

SH: What's the significance of the EP title YOUNI-BIRTH? Why did that name feel like the perfect way to introduce your first songs to the world?

EUNHO: YOUNITE's slogan is "WE ARE CONNECTED," and it accentuates the connection between YOUNITE and fans. Our debut album YOUNI-BIRTH carries dual meanings of our birth (YOUNI-BIRTH) and our special cosmic storyline (UNIVERSE). It's the first album to show YOUNITE's unlimited possibilities, so please look forward to it!

 

SH: What do you feel are the overarching themes of the EP? What kind of feel do you hope fans take away from it?

HYUNSEUNG: Our debut album has a variety of genres and styles, just like our many charming points. You can feel our charisma, cuteness and vividness, so you can choose any song based on how you feel every day!

SH: What are your favorite songs on the EP, and why?

SION: My favorite song is "RING RING RING"! It makes me feel good every time I listen to it because it's a calm yet bubbly song.

DEY: I feel especially attached to "EVERYBODY." I think we could really express our powerful and free-spirited energy through this song!

SH: How did you pick "EVERYBODY" as your debut song? What's the meaning of "EVERYBODY," and how does it capture the spirit of YOUNITE?

EUNHO: Our pre-released title track "EVERYBODY" is a funky old-school hip-hop track, and it sends a message of getting out of busy life for a while and enjoying today with YOUNITE's free-spirited energy!

EUNSANG: There is also a special group performance with our Brand New Music's senior artist DJ Juice's scratching, so I'm sure you'll have lots of fun watching the music video!

 

SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

STEVE: We love our fans, and we can't wait to meet them all! See you soon and often!

현승 / 저희의 다양한 매력처럼 수록곡 또한 다양의 노래가 들어있는 데뷔 앨범인데요,
카리스마부터 귀여움, 발랄함까지 다양하게 느끼실 수 있으니 팬분들도 기분에 따라 골라
듣는 재미가 있을 것 같아 기대가 됩니다!

 

수록곡들 중 가장 좋아하는 곡과 그 이유는 무엇인가요?
시온 / 제가 가장 좋아하는 곡은 RING RING RING 입니다~ 이 곡은 차분한 듯하면서도 통통 튀는 밝은
노래라 들을수록 기분이 좋아지더라고요!.

데이 / 저는 EVERYBODY가 좀 더 애정이 가는데요, 저희가 갖고 있는 파워풀하고 자유분방한

에너지를 잘 표현할 수 있었던 곡이라고 생각합니다!
