Yuni’s New Aromatherapy Sprays Are Like Calm and Relaxation in a Bottle
I firmly believe in the power of aromatherapy.
Mostly, I utilize the practice when I'm having a particularly restless night, by applying lavender balm to my wrist and dripping a few drops of essential oil into my diffuser to help me nod off. For E3 last week, I applied lemon oil onto my diffuser bracelets for an energy boost I could carry with me throughout the day.
So when I was contacted to see if I might have any interest in Yuni's new stress-relieving aromatherapy products, I was thrilled to be able to add them to my arsenal. Their natural products are designed with calm in mind, and after trying them out, I can safely say that they work like a charm.
The Products
Yuni is a beauty company focusing on natural, stress-relieving health products to help us all live happier, healthier lives. Their products are vegan and all-natural, and their aromatherapy offerings are all made with natural essential oils.
For my coverage, I was provided with one cooling My Om World body mist and two concentrated Pocket Savasana and Carry Om scents in roller bottles.
The Experience
My Om World Calming Aromatherapy Mist: $28
I started with the most familiar of the three products, a body mist. I applied it for the first time directly out of the shower and immediately fell in love with its bright, soothing fragrance. Bergamot and sage gave the spray a grassy, slightly herby scent that instantly had a calming effect on me. The spray made my skin feel amazing, too.
And while it's technically a body spray, I loved the smell so much I wound up using it as an all-around fragrance. It's since become a kind of palate cleanser for life. When I feel I need to reset and get back to my emotional square one, I can spritz myself and breathe in deeply. If I'm feeling a little tense or agitated, the scent helps clear my mind and regain my focus. Combined with the Pocket Savasana, it became like a spa day in a bottle for me.
Pocket Savasana Aroma Concentrate: $26
Speaking of the Pocket Savasana, it's the perfect complement to the My Om World spray. The scent is just slightly different, with sweet, floral notes under the smell of freshly cut grass, and the two fragrances created a truly harmonious blend. The Pocket Savasana comes in a roller ball bottle, so I could roll it onto my temples, writers and under my nostrils (where I could deeply breathe in the lovely smells) to get the most out of it.
I've never really practiced yoga, so when I saw that it was a good complement to the Savasana, I was pretty sure that this wouldn't apply to me. But when I discovered that the Savasana is also called the Corpse Pose, and is basically just lying on your back with your limbs splayed out, I realized I'd already been using it exactly as it had been intended.
I began by applying it when I had a little time to take a breather and step away from things. It was super easy to apply, and from there I simply had to rest and breathe for my cares to start melting away.
Later, even when I couldn't take too much time for a break, applying the roller would help me conjure up the image of peaceful moments and help me ground myself, even as I kept working. I also enjoy the ultra-portable size of the bottle, since I carry a really small bag and dislike too much extra bulk. Since I always had it on me, a moment of calm was never too far away. Sometimes, those worries would be back as soon as I resumed my work, but the break was always welcome—as was the amazing smell.
Carry Om Stress-Relieving Aromatherapy Essence: $14
While I also liked pairing this Carry Om aromatherapy essence with the mist, I think it was even more effective on its own. Rather than applying this delightfully citrusy balm directly under my nostrils, I instead rolled it onto my pulse points and hands, rubbing the essential oil blend between my hands and breathing in deeply.
This stick combines some of my favorite citrus scents—bergamot, grapefruit and orange—with woodsy cedar to create an invigorating, yet soothing, fragrance. I'm kind of citrus-obsessed, so this wound up being my favorite of the three products. Yet again, the portability was a huge plus. To me, the other scents made me feel like winding down and putting my thoughts somewhere else, while the Carry Om scent made me feel less stressed but still engaged and energetic. Of course, that's my personal impression, and the effect received from various scents will likely vary from person to person.
Bottom Line
In my experience, Yuni's aromatherapy products do exactly what they set out to do. Maybe it's all in my head, but it only takes seconds for their relaxing properties to set in whenever I apply them, and I adore the scents of all three. Never once during use has my skin felt irritated, or has my mood failed to improve. If you don't know where to start when it comes to aromatherapy, these might be the perfect place.
