Zach Seabaugh Breaks Down Every Track on His Debut Album, Mr. Nobody

Ever since rising Nashville-based singer-songwriter Zach Seabaugh first caught our attention with "Girl in a Coffee Shop," we've been paying close attention to the star, and he's truly outdone himself with his debut album Mr. Nobody.

The album released last month, consisting of 11 moody and personal tracks that capture the artist's journey of self-discovery over the last two years, through love and loss, releasing the past and growing through it all. It's smooth, expressive and evocatively written from start to finish, and Zach was kind enough to break down the album for us to share the stories behind each and every track in the interview below.

On Mr. Nobody

Zach Seabaugh: Mr.Nobody is a collection of songs I've been writing and recording for the last two years. I felt like "Mr. Nobody" was the perfect title track for this project because I've been spending the last few years trying to answer the question of who I am and who I was while writing these songs.

This album is a chapter of my early 20s—falling in love, experiencing heartbreak, letting go, learning and growing into the person I want to be. I've found so much joy bringing these songs to life. My only hope is that people hear my music and can relate to it in whatever season of life they are in.

'Mr. Nobody'

ZS: "Mr. Nobody" is one of the most honest songs I've written. It's a true representation of how I feel by default a lot of the time, and was my best effort to relay the goals I have as a person and artist. It's a song I'll look back to one day and smile

'Slingshot'

ZS: "Slingshot" was written by myself and Chance Peña in L.A. It's a feel-good song that's connected with so many people in so many special ways.

'Not How I Want To'

ZS: "Now How I Want To" was written by myself and Chance Peña. This song was one of the fastest songs I've written from start to finish and has meant a lot to me. I hope people find this song when they are navigating heartbreak, and it gives a sense of direction in those tough moments we've all faced after a relationship has ended.

'Forget About It'

ZS: "Forget About It" was a travel song that encapsulated my feelings of adventuring and following your own arrow at the time it was written. It's my favorite roadtrip song on the project.

'I Miss Who You Were'

ZS: "I Miss Who You Were" was written by Chance Peña and myself. It was a song written about needing to get a feeling off your chest, and the highs and lows and finding you are as a person in difficult times.

'Christmas Lights'

ZS: "Christmas Lights" was written late one night on the beach with some of my best friends. We were all passing a guitar around singing our favorite songs around a campfire, and the song fell out in the most authentic organic way.

'Girl in a Coffee Shop'

ZS: "Girl in a Coffee Shop" was written at a coffee shop in Nashville. This song means so much to me and it means the world that others have felt warmth through this simple, authentic song.

'Co-Pilot'

ZS: "Co-Pilot" was written with my friend Blake Ruby and Sam Johnston. I'm a pilot when I'm not writing songs, so I wanted to bring that part of my life together in a song.

'Telluride'

ZS: "Telluride" Was a travel adventure song written with Ben West and Melissa Fuller. It's another road trip and being out in nature song.

'Maybe We Do'

ZS: "Maybe We Do" is one of my favorite songs on the album. The reason being, it was a song that wasn't supposed to make the album, but I knew from the day I wrote it after the tracklist was finalized that the project wasn't completed without "Maybe We Do" being included.

'Plastic Flowers'

ZS: "Plastic Flowers" is a song about time and using it the best way we can while we still have it. It's represented by the idea of why people don't buy plastic flowers for the ones we love and how that related to how to make the most of every moment we have.
