Gamers and Non-Gamers Will Enjoy This Zelda-Themed Escape Room
I am by no means a gamer. I think the last time I played a video game was when I was in elementary school. Heck, it might've even been longer than that!
So when my co-worker Amanda invited my co-worker Brittney and me to participate in a Zelda-themed escape room, I was a bit hesitant, but figured why not?
Though not your typical escape room (you're not locked in a room and forced to find your way out), the hour-long Defenders of the Triforce escape game by SCRAP was equal parts challenging and enjoyable.
Set in the world of Hyrule (the kingdom in the Zelda series), the point of the escape room is to find the legendary Master Sword to defeat the evil Ganondorf from using the Triforce to cover the land in sheer darkness.
Having never played a Zelda game, I had no idea what was happening, so I just sort of went along with it. Thank goodness for the helpful intro video that explained all of this, otherwise I would've been completely lost.
After the vid ended and we donned our iconic Link hats, the countdown began. We had one hour to save the Hyrule Kingdom from evil. The pressure was on.
As I mentioned before, this wasn't a typical escape room setting. We weren't running around flipping over tables to find keys to unlock doors and such, but insteead we had to decipher a series of word games and puzzles to get through the various "levels" of the game.
Trust me when I say the various tasks we had to complete on our quest for the Master Sword weren't at all as easy as I expected. Amanda, Brittney and I are all pretty smart, but we were no match for these tricky assignments. Sadly, we weren't able to get the Master Sword in time to save Hyrule from Ganondorf's evil reign—whomp whomp!
While we may not have been successful, I still had a blast taking part in this escape room. It was a total brain-teaser, but an all-around fun time. I can only imagine how much fans of The Legend of Zelda series will enjoy your experience.

After our time in the escape room was done, Amanda was lucky enough to play a demo of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch. Read all about her experience HERE!
