Zodica Perfumery’s Zodiac Perfume Palette Is More Than Just 12 Zodiac-Inspired Fragrances

I may not exactly believe in the predictive powers of astrology, but I've always been fascinated by it—particularly when it comes to assigning things to people based on their signs.

That's why when the team at Zodica Perfumery reached out to me to see if I'd be interested in testing out their Zodiac Perfume Palette, I jumped at the opportunity. The palette includes a dozen fragrances—one tailor-made for each sign of the zodiac—as well as suggestions for how to mix and match them to build even more compelling fragrance blends. After playing around with it for a couple of weeks, it's clear there's much more to it than just throwing 12 fragrances together. Read my full review below.

The Kit

Zodica Perfumery's Zodiac Perfume Palette is a 12-piece fragrance layering kit consisting of 2 mL glass fragrance bottles, with each scent inspired by a particular zodiac sign. In addition to the versatile fragrances themselves, the kit also includes 12 scent strips for fragrance testing, plus a scent wheel to help you find your sign and its complementary sets.

For example, my sign is Sagittarius, and it assigned me with "End your day with adventure," showed me that my complementary signs were fellow fire signs Leo and Aries, and also recommended pairing with my opposite sign, Gemini, "to make sparks fly."

In addition, the kit comes with an enclosed QR code to access Zodica's natal chart site, allowing you to calculate your birth chart and get all kinds of astrological info, then plug those into six blend recipes for Love, Home, Success, Element, Balance and Destiny that are custom to you and your chart. Essentially, it uses the moment of your birth to create custom endlessly mix-and-matchable scents that all smell fantastic.

Altogether, it's a year's worth of fragrance, coming in gorgeous matte black packaging with golden lettering. It's a $168 value but retails for just $96.

The Scents

Aries

For my first go-around, I decided to go in the order of the zodiac and begin with the Aries fragrance. I only have one complaint about this kit, and it's that the rounded fragrance bottles were pretty tough to remove from the packaging on the first use!

Aries' fragrance has notes of cinnamon, amber and tobacco flower, creating a lusciously warm and smokey scent that perfectly suits the fire sign.

 

Taurus

I expected something earthy from Taurus's fragrance and received nothing less from its notes of leafy green, iris and sandalwood. I found it wonderfully woodsy, with notes that made it feel like a forested getaway.

 

Gemini

With its mimosa flower, teak wood and orange blossom scent, Gemini's fragrance was almost candy-like. I found that the floral sweetness was extra light and breezy, befitting the air sign.

 

Cancer

Thanks to Zodica's help with my astrological chart, I recently learned that Cancer is my Jupiter sign, and perhaps that's why I find myself returning to the Cancer scent again and again. With rose, iris and sweet plum notes, it features rich, sugary florals and a warmth that keeps me coming back for more.

 

Leo

Leo happens to be my rising sign, as well as a fiery complement to Sagittarius, and this was another fragrance I adored. Thanks to jasmine, mandarin and honeysuckle, it's got citrus and bright flower notes that give it a joyous, summery vibe.

 

Virgo

Virgo's sandalwood, magnolia and apple notes somehow come together to capture the sign's studious nature by smelling like old books. The scent is dark and rich, with the apple and wood lending an almost bookish, indoorsy vibe.

Libra

Libra's hints of freesia, Brazilian mango and white peach are almost spicy, offset by sweet fruitiness. While I found this to be my least favorite scent in the collection (apologies to my Libra friends), I did find that it pairs beautifully with the Aquarius and Gemini scents to elevate them even further.

 

Scorpio

Both my Mars and Pluto signs are in Scorpio, and I definitely found this Scorpio fragrance compelling with its oakmoss, ylang-ylang and patchouli scent. It's at once clean and mossy, with incense notes that make it feel a little mysterious, making it excellent for layering.

 

Sagittarius

Sagittarius is my sun sign and also shows up repeatedly in my chart, so I had high hopes for this fragrance, and it didn't disappoint. It features the scents of sweet berries, vanilla spice and dark musk, creating something reminiscent of a sweet treat but with woodsy, dark undertones. It's one of my favorites in the collection, and the way it layers with pretty much every other fragrance I've tried has been pure magic.

 

Capricorn

Thanks to Zodica, I'm also now aware that my Venus,  Saturn, Neptune and Uranus signs are all in Capricorn, which may explain why I've gravitated so much toward this fragrance. It combines Japanese yuzu, white musk and green sage to create something earthy yet vibrant, with bright citrus contrasting the woodsy notes to feel sturdy yet energetic.

 

Aquarius

I love the wintery vibe of Aquarius's fragrance, fusing cardamom, white fir and verbena to create a scent that reminds me of Christmas. It's sweet, with both woodsy fir and spicy cardamom notes to make me feel like cozying up under a big warm blanket.

 

Pisces

And last, but certainly not least, is Pisces—my moon sign. With its hints of white lotus, cyclamen and neroli, it's another instant favorite thanks to its combination of cool, sweet florals that always put a smile on my face.
